What to do when your boyfriend breaks up with you. The emotions that this will bring are challenging. You feel like they are making a mistake, you may think you can change their mind or make them listen to you. You will be dealing with feelings that come with both rejection and abandonment. This can be very overwhelming and can leave you feeling lost and helpless. Here are some tips to help you if this has happened to you.

Establish boundaries for yourself.

Try to avoid bumping into your ex or having an opportunity to see what they are up to through social media. Get rid of any opportunity to bump into them by taking alternate routes if you know they live in a certain town or shop at a certain supermarket. Hide or delete their socials so you have less temptation to reach out to them.

Take time to yourself.

You have surrounded yourself by them and have got caught up in being an ‘us’ and a ‘we’ and have likely neglected your relationship with yourself a little. What hobbies did you used to enjoy? What used to fill your heart with joy before the ex came along? Rebuild your relationship with yourself.

Sit with your feelings.

Allow them to exist. It is normal to be feeling sad, confused, relieved and various other emotions. Allow these to exist in order for them to be able to pass. You are grieving the loss of something that was a part of your life in a big way.
